Same problem here, image look very flat without AO! I see many people making the same mistake as simply rendering without Post-Production and thinking that the image will be at the "Hollywood" level!!! Comparing with the mixed Raytrace-Rasterized tecnology of other software, the Twinmotion Engine - which forces us to simulate shadows with decals - comes out really bad. It will be great to control AO's radius and intensity with a natural look and also affect the objects in the scene into floor and walls and material bumps to read the texture even if it is in shadow. Very disappointed with this new version.
